The Melody Makers Music Therapy Charitable Fund was set up in loving memory of young Melody, who received music therapy in her home during her hospice care from the Cincinnati Children’s music therapy department. Melody and her family were comforted with musical interventions which created emotional healing and lasting memories of her short life. By making a gift to the Melody Makers Music Therapy Charitable Fund, you are changing the lives of children like Melody and their families through the Music Therapy In-Patient and Home-Based Program at Cincinnati Children's.
Music therapists at Cincinnati Children's work with children of all ages and their families to address the many emotional needs patients and their families face due to a patient's diagnosis.
Board Certified Music Therapists design Music Interventions to support the needs of patients and their family. Music interventions can include singing, playing instruments, music listening, dancing, song writing, and audio and visual recordings.
Music interventions designed by the music therapist may provide opportunities for:
- Anxiety and stress reduction
- Emotional Healing
- Non-pharmacological management of pain and discomfort
- Positive changes in mood and emotional states
- Active and positive patient participation in treatment
- Meaningful time spent together in a positive and creative way
