Become a Volunteer
Volunteers play an important role in Cincinnati Walks for Kids
Volunteer Check-in will be located in the Dury Avenue parking lot. You will receive a confirmation email upon registration and final details the week of the event. The first 30 minutes of your shift will be training and set up. (Feel free to contact the walk team at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 513-636-2941.)
Volunteers Needed from 2:30 – 6 pm
Walker Check-In (50)
Check-in walkers, register new walkers, accept donations, and assist with registration area breakdown. Will handle money and security will be present at all times. Must be at least 18 years old.
Assist walkers with parking and getting to walker check-in area. Will be stationed at various parking garages and along the routes from the parking garages to the walker registration tent. There will be police presence along route, and a Cincinnati Children’s staff person stationed at each parking destination. All parking volunteers will report back to the registration lot after their shift to help tear down registration. Must be at least 16 years old.
Keep walker traffic moving towards registration area, direct walkers to specific areas and answer questions as needed. Will help break down registration area. Must be at least 16 years old.
Water Station/Refreshment Team (24)
Distribute water and/or snacks to walkers at one of the various water stations throughout the registration area.
Kids Zone (20)
Manage face painting lines and make sure kids are having fun!
Help distribute official walk T-shirts to all registered walkers.
Volunteers Needed from 3 – 6:30 pm
Walk Route Marshals (20)
Work with Zoo staff and cheer on walkers, keeping them on the right path. Once most walkers have finished, walk route marshals will head to finish line to help tear down.
Finish Line (20)
Hand out ribbons, fruit, water or schedules; give directions into Zoo or to shuttle.
