Fertility Preservation
Our team is proud to support the #1 pediatric hospital in the country by participating in Cincinnati Walks for Kids! We’ll walk, celebrate, and raise money to help improve fertility care for the families counting on Cincinnati Children’s for hope and healing.
At Cincinnati Children’s, we believe that fertility is an important aspect of medical care for every patient and it requires consideration even during childhood. The goal of the Comprehensive Fertility Care & Preservation Program (aka “the Fertility Team”) is to meet with patients of all ages and their families prior to them getting any kind of therapy or medication that could decrease their fertility potential in the future. The majority of these patients are coming to Cincinnati Children’s for cancer treatment or bone marrow transplant, but we also serve many other patients with a variety of other diagnoses and treatments that can affect future fertility. We work with these families by educating them about the fertility risks of their specific diagnosis and treatment plans to help them determine if fertility preservation is right for them. We have the privilege to be able to offer options to preserve their ability to have biological children in the future. These processes include freezing sperm, testicular tissue, eggs, or ovarian tissue. We help the patient and family to understand the strengths, limitations, successes, and science behind each option, while giving hope for the future.
